Atypical & Awesome, “”Write Night, Comedy, and Heart Songs”

It’s been another week full of creative pursuits. Tuesday night, I participated in Write Night hosted by Wiregrass Museum of Art. There were ten or so presenters which was nice. I presented a prelude to a play I am working on. It is a very vulnerable piece so to share it took me a little out of my comfort zone. It was received well which is encouraging. I also made a few more contacts in our creative community and added a few more dates to my performance and writing calendars.

Now last night really deserves its own post but due to a really busy day today, this will have to do. Open-mic Comedy Night at Mural City Coffee in Dothan-wowza. Hosted by Jordan Stanley, there were 12 brave souls behind the mic and an audience of over 80! Literally- maybe close to 100. Definitely the largest crowd for an open-mic we’ve seen. Just wow. It was great to finally meet Jordan and some other new faces. It was a very special night.

Finally, my heart songs! My biggest creative passion is unapologetically, songwriting. What a week or two it has been! Writes, cuts, contacts galore and I am so grateful. Thank you to all my cowriters and the artists who trust me to help them tell their heart songs. Yall- just wait!

We are headed to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival today to see, “Beautiful”, based on the life of Carole King. I am so incredibly excited because she is in my “top three”. Have a great weekend, everyone!
