Atypical & Awesome- “Mics and Movies”

Friday night, I did my first songwriter performance in a long while. I was a little rusty but grateful for an opportunity to share two of my originals, “Sunday Morning Coffee” and “Poison and Perfume” at Hoobler Music’s Open-Mic. I love this open-mic because it is a rare non-bar setting and attracts ALL ages from young kids to seniors so it is special.

Phillip has converted the boys’ old bedroom into a rehearsal/writing space for me which I love. It is going to make preparing for performances much easier. I plan to play out much more this year.

We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing at home with Chinese takeout and watching endless movies. Seriously, I think I watched around 8 movies which is something I never do. I even deep dove into, “Love Story”- iykyk. Sometimes, you just have to hit the brakes and chill. It is good for the soul.

I plan to write and practice tonight. I just received a piano book of Carole King songs so that is gonna be a focus for a while. I just love her so much. Maybe soon I can i corporate some of her work into my performances. We shall see. Anyway, thank you for stopping by- there is coffee in the kitchen.
