Atypical & Awesome, “Home of the Free”
Phillip and I celebrated our independence by staying home. There is true liberation from detaching sometimes. Phillip is sickish and we have a trip coming up this week so some R&R was in order. We did some things around the house, played board games, watched movies, sang karaoke, and practiced dance moves for my upcoming audition. We ate hot dogs and watched fireworks on tv- the ones in NYC and the Brooklyn Bridge touched my heart. It was special in its own way.
There are terrible and tragic things going on right now so it is hard to not be consumed by the sadness in the news. I keep reminding myself that love wins and even in the darkness there is light- even if I have to be that light. I will continue to help the person in front of me. I am blessed to be a frontline worker in social service. I will keep doing what I can where I can all days of my life. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed- do something for someone else- just a small act of kindness. The little things matter.
Despite it all, we are free- free to make small decisions which lead to bigger outcomes. If we all choose love in a small capacity daily, think of the impact. We can choose love. We are free to choose love. I choose love.
