Atypical & Awesome, “Hats Off to a Great Weekend”
We had a joyous weekend, honestly. I took off work an hour early Friday and got a much-needed pedicure. I had a few sandal-worthy events planned for Saturday so it was a necessity. The toes look great- thank you, Desiree at Rituals Day Spa!
Saturday morning started with a High Tea at Southern Love Catering in Dothan. It was absolutely gorgeous. The decor and food were perfect. It was their inaugural tea and I will definitely be back. I enjoyed earl grey, strawberry lemonade, and hibiscus teas. The three courses included a chicken divan crepe with salad, a fruit tray with house made macarons, cinnamon crisps, and chilled strawberry soup (A+), and the traditional tiered sandwich and dessert tower as the third course. Just stunning.
Saturday evening, Phillip and I put on our Derby best and attended our first Kentucky Derby party at Folklore Brewing in Enterprise. We enjoyed mock juleps while watching the race and it did not disappoint. We witnessed history as Golden Tempo took the lead from behind and Cherie DeVaux became the first woman trainer to train a Kentucky Derby winner.
Sunday was family time and we feel blessed to have sweet times together. Phillip and I are working to improve ourselves and take after dinner walks most days. We pray, we walk, we talk- I recommend all of the above. Life is what you make it- have fun when you can, work hard, rest when you need to, and wear hats any chance you get :)
