Atypical & Awesome, “Down By the Rivers’ Side”
I grew up in a little town bordering the junction of two rivers- the Choctawhatchee and the Pea Rivers. Every year a big festival is thrown at the river junction and the whole town comes out- it is very “Mayberry”. This year had a special element for me as Crews Wright was one of the entertainers. I got to hear, “Big Deal” performed at the River Festival. Even a “bigger deal” for me is my parents were there. I’m not sure if they have ever heard or seen any of my songs performed live. So, that was special.
Phillip and I spent all day at the festival (thanks to the portable rechargeable fan Phillips brought for me) and we enjoyed a full day of music and festival eats. Craig Morgan was the headliner and did not disappoint. His patriotic tributes were a hit with the hone crowd.
I also made a new songwriting contact with another young artist I will be telling you about soon. I’m looking forward to working with her over the next few weeks. It was a productive and fun day and I enjoyed seeing lots of old friends. It’s a running joke that if you don’t see anyone all year, you’ll see them at the River Festival- so true!
