Atypical & Awesome, “Winter”
There is beauty in all seasons. This week I am embracing the beauty of winter. I am recovering from surgery so I have lots of time to think. I realized a few years ago that I am the “winter friend”. I wrote a poem about it and I’ll see if I can post it again soon. Winter is also a season in life. I think I am going through that right now- a period of quietness, stillness, allowing some things to “die away” (temporarily) to make way for spring and the birth or rebirth of new, beautiful things.
I actually have learned to love winter- literally and figuratively. I am not immune or ignorant to the harshness of winter for many people. However, right now- at this point and position in my life- I love winter. Candles, flames, heated blankets, hot coffees, teas, and cocoa. Cute clothes- sweaters and coats and hats and gloves. Binge-watching my favorite shows and having to go nowhere. It is a beautiful thing.
I guess it is fitting that I was born in January. I never liked it until now. I love the fall (Autumn), spring, and summer but for now I am winter and I am okay with that.
