Atypical & Awesome, “The Sun Sets on Sunset Beach”
“Sunset Surf Club” has closed on Southern Broadway after a wonderful fifteen show season. Most, if not all shows were full-capacity and the audience response was overwhelmingly positive. It was a colorful, lively, and at times poignant production. Phillip and I were glad to be a part.
For me personally, getting to know my castmates was the highlight. It was a small, young cast so we became close. It always makes my heart smile to see young talent being channeled exactly where it needs to go. Two of the young actors are New York bound- as they should be. I can’t wait to see where their paths take them.
The experience has inspired us. Phillip is ready to act more and I am focused on writing. I have already put some work into a musical as well as another production. Both are new challenges for me as a writer so I am excited. While I remain forward focused, I do pause for a moment to give Sunset Beach its appropriate farewell. You were never “just a play”- you were an “experience”. Thank you.
