Atypical & Awesome, “The Beat Goes On”
Friday was, “Wear Red for Heart Disease Awareness” Day. I wore red and I am very much aware. My heart is acting afool right now- literally and figuratively. I have a follow-up local cardiology appointment today and then a follow-up with UAB on Wednesday. I’ve not been real happy with the results of my surgery so I am hoping for some guidance and insight from these appointments.
Phillip has been really sweet and has been very attentive. We’ve been working hard to get the house in order and put some changes in place to hopefully make things a little easier for us. Survival is a full-time job sometimes. Not trying to be dramatic but it is true- chronic illness is for the birds. While I have dealt with symptoms for over twenty years this latest surge has been especially trying. But this too shall pass and things will eventually stabilize.
In much more positive news, we did make it out to a small Mardis Gras golf cart parade, picked up amazing sandwiches from the Butcher’s Daughter, and visited with my parents and nephew over the weekend. Those are wins and I’ll take them.
We have a private comedy show coming up on Friday so we are excited about that and I might even stop in a local poetry open-mic afterwards if I still have steam. Saturday is Valentine’s Day so we have some fun plans for that as well. We are just keeping on keeping on. Life is short- choose where you put your energy wisely. As always, thank you for following my journey and stay tuned.
