Atypical & Awesome, “Such a Great Summer”
It’s Labor Day and we are bidding goodbye to Summer 25. Yes, we still officially have a few weeks left but once football starts- it’s fall- regardless of the calendar or temperature- lol! I’ll change the mantle and put out our fall candles later today- we are so ready!
However, I have to send props to this summer- 2025- it was simply fabulous. Autumn came down and we had a great weekend at the beach (even though she ended up with sun poisoning which scared us to death). She is a true New Yorker now and doesn’t get that intense UV exposure like we do here. Lesson learned- next time, we’re applying her sunscreen with a spatula. But, it was still a good trip filled with sunshine, seafood, and our first visit to Destin Harbor.
July brought our trip to Atlanta with Michael and Reagan and included the zoo, aquarium, Coke museum, College Football Hall of Fame, and the Center for Puppetry Arts as well as a cool dinner at a converted church/restaurant hang. We had such a great time doing ALL the things.
We attended lots of festivals and events including the Slocomb Tomato Festival and the Sweet Tea Festival. We had the honor of seeing “Big Deal” performed by Crews Wright at the Dothan Opera House. We attended a songwriters showcase there as well. Alex and I attended the “Wizard of Oz” at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and it was stellar. We also, made a trip to the water park with Miss Quinn and realized how much we need to work on getting in shape for our Disney trip next Spring- lol!
And the cherry on top of this fabulous summer, was a return trip to Brooklyn/NYC! OMG- what a wonderful trip. Seeing my Autie B in her element made this mama’s heart so happy! We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, went to the Brooklyn Park Farmer’s Market, went to Coney Island and rode the Wonder Wheel, did stand-up in Manhattan (we were a hit!), and saw “Hell’s Kitchen” on Broadway. So much everything!!!
Thank you, Summer 2025- you were one for the record books ! Thank you all for being a part of it!
