Atypical & Awesome, “Sound of the Bedroom Door”

Autumn is in town this week for her ten year high school reunion. She normally stays with my parents (which they love) but due to the recent power outages, she stayed with us. We had returned her old bedroom to “company standards” over the summer so the room was set up and ready. She ended up staying two nights with us and it made this mama’s heart happy.

I was in the living room and I heard her bedroom door close. It was a sound I have not heard in many years and it just touched my heart. I’m lucky to get to see our kids pretty often- even with Autumn living in NYC. But, hearing that bedroom door close- knowing Autumn was home in her old bedroom just hit differently I’m grateful for many things but having adult “kids” who still want to come home is one of my greatest blessings.
