Atypical & Awesome, “One Night in Brooklyn”
My heart is full. I did the thing. Despite raised eyebrows (mainly out of concern for my health) Wednesday morning, I left at 4:30 am and drove to Atlanta and boarded a plane for NYC. Alone. Autumn met me at the airport and we took a cab to her apartment.
Before continuing let me elaborate a tad. Phillip would have gladly accompanied me but this is crunch time for his job AND with rehearsals for our upcoming performances. The timing was not convenient but it was something that needed to happen for me emotionally. Plus, it gave me a chance to spend some Mom/ Daughter time with Autumn. The trip was relatively seamless and I now know I can get to NYC solo if needed.
Autumn and I had an amazing dinner in Brooklyn complete with Fusion food and fancy mocktails. We had gallon-sized bowls of Ramen and a great shrimp appetizer. YUM. Then, it was time for the concert. Stevie Nicks. My heart. Oh my, bucketlist! Sooo amazing. The sparkles. The capes. The voice. The stories. My heart. Children get older- yes they do. What a blessing to experience this with my Autie B.
The next morning was Bagel Pub for bagels and coffee and then the flight back. We pushed through and arrived back in town around 8 pm and I rushed to rehearsal. What an experience! Was I little crazy for doing it? Yes. Do I regret it? Not one bit. Am I still tired? Yes. Am I still smiling? Yes. One night in Brooklyn that will stay with me forever.
