Atypical & Awesome- “3 Months Post-Op”

It has been 3 months today. I was at UAB having a “simple, outpatient procedure” to repair a fractured pacemaker lead. Except the pacemaker had been in my body over twenty years and had twenty years of scar tissue. The quick, easy surgery took seven hours and a team was on standby in the operating room in case they needed to “open my chest”. Those were the parting words my surgeon gave me beforehand. It was NOT a pleasant experience.

The first month after the surgery was hard and I was very symptomatic and in some ways worse than before the surgery. Month two was mixed with some better days and still some rough days. Month 3 has been MUCH better. I made it through an intense week at Disney with only one episode. It was very sudden and lasted less than an hour so we will take it. I have been working really hard to make good decisions with building my stamina, stating hydrated, eating digestive friendly food, and being very aware of what gets my time and attention. I feel much better.

I feel optimistic again and am busy making plans and doing things that make my heart happy. This heart has been through a lot- physically and figuratively- I’m gonna take care of her 💕💕💕
